Vitamix 5300 Review: Top Secret to Fast & Easy Blending

Vitamix 5300

We all agree that a blender makes life in the kitchen so much easier, right?

But, are we going to talk about how they make our work harder as well?

Those choppy textures, inconsistent blending, and messy countertops are not the best works of a blender. This is what you get when you settle for a cheap blender.

You’re probably thinking:

“What’s the guarantee that an expensive blender will be any better?”

And today, I’m going to answer that question for you in my very own Vitamix 5300 review. I used it, I loved it, and so did the hundreds of users out there.

Vitamix 5300: What Does it Offer?

[amazon box=”B00SZ3DHDQ”]

Recreated from the previous Vitamix model 5200, this Vitamix blender 5300 is user-friendly and has all the convenient features that its ancestor lacked. It might look small but it’ll leave you impressed with its versatility, performance, and durability!

At the end of the day, with your first use of this compact blender, you’ll keep wondering “Why didn’t I get this earlier?!”

What Does it Come With?

  • Motor with 2.2 HP power, giving it more strength than the 5200.
  • Variable speed control feature.
  • 64-ounce storage-friendly container.
  • Pulse button for chunkier textures.
  • A warranty of 7 years

Worth Every Penny:

A first look at the Vitamix 5300 price tag might make you think twice before buying this. Nevertheless, you know how those cheap blenders end up, don’t you?

This one is well worth the bucks you spend on it. It’ll last with you for a long time and give you consistent performance throughout that entire time!

However, if you absolutely cannot fit the price in your budget, you could always go for the Vitamix 5300 refurbished. It’ll still perform just as good and give you a warranty of 5 years!

Supreme Blending Results:

The powerful motor along with the sturdy blades, ensure that you get the maximum satisfaction with whatever mixture you put in. It doesn’t only blend up your ordinary fruits and vegetables for smoothies; it goes the extra mile to create some mouthwatering salsa and soup as well!

Ease of Use:

Starting from the on/off button to the speed settings, everything about this blender is simple to operate. You don’t need to hastily go through the manual to see what you need to do. Twist the dial to your preferred speed and let the Vitamix C series 5300 do its magic!

Less Noisy Than Most:

Unlike most blenders, this one doesn’t sound like an airplane taking off from your kitchen. I wouldn’t say it’s completely quiet, cause it’s a blender after all! Yet, it’s quieter than many blenders out there, especially the 5200.

7-year Warranty:

As if the strapping built wasn’t good enough, it comes with a Vitamix warranty claim of 7 years as well. There’s no doubt that this appliance can go through some rough mixing processes without breaking down, but this warranty just adds up to it!

A Snippet of the Pros and Cons

Here’s summing up the flaws and perfections of this little dynamite.

Points for:

  • Provides the perfect texture for any mixture.
  • Variable speed settings allow you to have control over the blending.
  • 64-ounce carafe is perfect for medium to large-sized servings.
  • Has a pulse feature for manual blending.
  • Easy to use.
  • Super easy to clean.
  • Small size allows for easy storage.
  • 7-year full warranty on the product.

Point against:

Ingredients stick to the wall without sufficient liquid:

The Vitamix model 5300 doesn’t come with a guarantee of “no liquid blending”. Hence, if you aren’t putting enough water or other liquid agents into the pitcher, it won’t blend very well.

There are very few blenders, if at all, that work without any liquids in them, and the 5300 isn’t one of them. So, not a very big con if you think about it.

Besides a little bit of milk in your smoothie really amps up the taste, doesn’t it?

Blender plays around the counter:

With the 2.2 HP motor, there’s no denying the power of this processor. Like most others, it vibrates while in use and also tends to shift from its place a little.

All you need to do is keep an eye on it. Plus, it’s always recommended to not leave any blender alone when they’re in use since they can cause a mess anytime!

Even if you do have to run a quick chore while your smoothie mixes up, make sure that it’s not on the edge of the countertop. We did say it’s durable but let’s not test it like that!

Not for small batches of food:

Most users say that this one cannot make a small glass of smoothie just for one person. We don’t always have guests over do we? Sometimes, all we need is some nice salsa just for ourselves!

Unfortunately, the Vitamix 64-ounce container might look like it can only make medium to large batches of food.

Fortunately, it only looks like that! You can easily pop in small amounts of raw produce to let the mixer work on food for you only. It does take a scraper to take out the stuck food in the bottom, but hey it’s getting the hard part done!

Looks like I failed to come up with significant flaws for this. Let me know if you find any!

My Experience with the Vitamix C-Series 5300

[amazon box=”B00SZ3DHDQ”]

I’ve tried and thrown away so many blenders because they just weren’t doing the work for me. I love some smooth and perfect smoothies, that chunky texture of salsa, and frozen desserts at any time of the day.

To my disappointment, none of the blenders did that. That’s when I realized where I was wrong:

I was getting cheap blenders to save some money! Yet, all they did was increase my spending because of all the frequent blender shopping.

That’s when I decided to expand my budget and invest in the Vitamix 5300 to get consistent results for a lifetime! And to my surprise, there hasn’t been a single day I looked at other blenders.

Variable Settings and Pulse Feature for Easy Blending:

I don’t know about you but I love having control over the speed of my blenders. It just makes me feel that I’m getting my desired consistency and not settling for what the “ideal” texture is. Vitamix 5300 hit the right spot with its easy settings!

  •  Ten variable speed settings

Ranging from 1 to 10, the Vitamix settings satisfy the consistency for each one of your food. When I want my frozen fruits and ice cream to be blended into smoothies, I turn it to 9 or 10 for that velvety texture! A twist to 6 or 7 is perfect for some appetizing frozen desserts.

If you’re someone who loves biting on munching on some fruit chunks in your smoothie, turn the speed to 5, and watch it blend with utmost care so as to not destroy all the slices in it. Of course, you can stop the blending at any time you want if you think you’ve reached what you need.

  •  Pulse button

I have a problem:

I will not take one bite of my chips until I have either salsa or dips to go with it. Ergo, when I noticed the pulse feature on the 5300, I knew this is the one for me!

This very useful button helps in giving you that chunky salsa you crave! For those cold nights, you can easily pour some hot soup to warm yourself up.

There’s no Vitamix reset button on it, but with the Pulse switch, you really don’t need one as well.

Comes with a Tamper Tool:

I’ve seen my carrots, apples, and other hard raw foods be very stubborn and not cooperate with the blades. That is when I realized the power of a tamper tool.

This one goes through the top of your moving blender and effectively dices up any big, hard bits of fruits and veggies. Additionally, it also speeds up the blending time. Therefore, whenever you’re in a rush, this tool can really be your savior!

Although, with the blades being so mighty, you’ll hardly need the tamper tool. In fact, now that I’ve started making smaller slices of my carrots, I’m sure my tamper device has tangled itself in spider webs, sitting on that shelf for so long!

Cleanup is a Breeze:

Honestly, I hate washing dishes. And that’s the reason why I always try avoiding appliances. Albeit, the Vitamix 5300 container has been a delight to clean.

Why?

Cause it self cleans!

Here are some quick steps to get that working:

  1. Pour four cups of hot/warm water into the jug.
  2. Add a drop or two of dish soap.
  3. Turn on the blender and put it to maximum speed.
  4. Let it move around for a minute or so.
  5. Stare like a little girl at Disney World, while the water whirls around and cleans the pitcher.
  6. Empty out the carafe and dry with a towel.

Note: If you let your blender jug air dry, it’ll eventually turn cloudy in the long run. Hence, it’s best to wipe it dry after washing.

Saves Space on the Cabinet and Counter:

If you’ve looked at other Vitamix reviews, you’ll notice that the one complaint customers had with the Vitamix 5200 was that it’s hard to store. Keeping that in mind, Vitamix introduced the 5300 with dimensions of 7.25 x 8.75 x 17.25 inches.

A machine as small as that is so easy to store! I can safely tuck it away in my cabinet without bothering any of the other appliances.

Moreover, my kitchen counter is pretty small, and being an appliance junkie, I have a LOT of those! The Vitamix 5300 Professional Series sits quietly in one space and I can still fit the other appliances around it.

Also, it’s pretty cute to look at, so sometimes I just let it sit on the counter rather than hiding it away!

Note: The smaller size doesn’t mean it has less capacity than the 5200. This one is just wider rather than taller and that’s what makes all the difference in saving space.

Alternatives if the Vitamix 5300 is Not for You

If you don’t like babysitting your blender while it’s in use, the movement of the 5300 is not something that you’re probably digging. In that case, check out the Ninja Mega Kitchen System 1500.

With a suction lever locking system, this sturdy blender easily locks the foot into place. Ergo, it doesn’t run around all over the countertop. Besides, it is an all-rounder with a pretty good size for everyday use.

If you’re not a big fan of scraping the small batches of food from your blender, then the Vitamix S50 is sure to tingle your fancy! This 40 oz. high-performance blender has a 20-ounce container as its sidekick.

Use it to churn up small amounts of mixtures, take it with you on your commute, or refrigerate your leftover smoothies in it. A true definition of versatility!

Also, unlike the Vitamix professional 5300, the S50 has pre-programmed settings that let you do your own work while it does it.

Fun Fact:

Before we part, here’s an interesting gossip I picked up from Vitamix:

Their blades aren’t sharpened! Rather, Vitamix blenders rely on speed and power to get their work done.

Why?

Sharp blades tend to become dull over time, making the task of a blender useless. Ergo, if you’ve blunt blades, to begin with, you won’t have to worry about it losing its productivity!

Although, if you’re not a big fan of that idea, you can always get Vitamix to sharpen the blades for you!
